This image was painted in the context of “Pride Montreal” 2017 as well as the time of the year when the nation states Pakistan and India celebrate independence from British colonialism.

The image celebrates Queer and Trans Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (QTBIPOC) continuing to affirm space/refusing to be marginalised and tokenised in white dominant and colonial LGBT spaces (such as “Pride Montreal”). The painting also celebrates ongoing struggles against colonialism, the legacies of colonialism, and false linguistic divides (e.g. Urdu and Hindi).  This art piece highlights the importance of consent, and affirms Queerness, gender fluidity, self-love, and loving each other in the presence of justice.
